(00:00) hey this is Doug Peterson with Carolina rural homes and today what I want to go over is the importance of the HUD plate in 1976 this plate that we're looking at here that is on a manufactured home these plates were issued by uh the Housing and Urban Development Department the HUD and one way to think of it is if a siteb built home is being built in a County who's in charge of overseeing that is it the federal government or the local government well a siteb built home is overseen not by the federal government but by the local government
(00:42) so you have County inspectors County building departments that are involved they will issue the permits and then they will come and do an inspection and then when the building is done they will issue a certificate of occupancy when it comes to a manufactured home it's not done by County it's done by the federal Housing and Urban Development HUD and so they inspect each manufactured home Factory and issue a HUD plate for each home that is completed and this plate is going to have a unique number that's tied to that
(01:22) particular home and in future videos we will uh go over the serial number and how the data plate the HUD plate serial number the HUD number all need to be in sync in order for that home to get uh qualification for a loan but for now we're talking about the HUD plate and I want to go over the importance of the HUD plate and how to find it so if you are wanting to get to sell your home or if you're want to buy a home and you want you're not just going to use cash you need to um qualify for a VA loan a
(02:03) conventional loan a a loan um FHA loan a USDA loan any kind of commercial loan you are going to need a HUD number for the home so in this particular one the number is PFS 289 444 and then it goes on and and gives the information the manufacturer certifies the best the manufacturer's knowledge ET Etc and you see here the Housing and Urban Development connection so where do you find this plate well let's look at a home so to find the Home the plate it's going to be attached to the outside of the home so
(02:50) if you're facing the front door of a home to the right is always going to be of the front unit so this is a double wide there's a front and a back right right and so this front is going to be a and the back is going to be B uh Unit A and Unit B and the the tongue is always on the right hand side and the serial number will be on the frame of a and b on the front of the home that's uh for future videos but for our purposes today the HUD plate is going to be on the back so if this is the front this would be the back and see
(03:30) back here in this corner that right there is the HUD plate that we were just looking at so this HUD plate right here is right there and the trouble that you run into is sometimes they get painted over sometimes they get removed if uh the owner of this home at some point decide oh I'm going to change out all my vinyl siding and they rip everything off off and they don't think about this HUD plate attached to this see it's attached right to that vinyl siding and so if they ripped off this vinyl siding that
(04:10) HUD plate can be gone now there are ways around that that can be for future videos or you can contact me if you have questions about how to find it but uh this is Doug Peterson with Carolina rural homes and today I just wanted to highlight what is the HUD plate the importance of it and how to find it
